I would love to hear from anyone who grew up in the truth and is gay
by Ragnarökkr inhi.. after lurking for a number of months i have decided to join in and hopefully connect with a few people who will know what it has been like to grow up as me.
i left the truth a number of years ago for two reasons, one of which was my sexuality, which i knew to be unacceptable to my brothers and sisters.
since then i have alone in my isolation, hopefully through this site i can rectify that.

What if she never leaves JWs? (The interminable waiting period...)
by AuldSoul inthis has nothing to do with whether i love my wife.
i always will.. pragmatically, i have come to the devastating conclusion that i don't want to be married to a jw.
any jw.. she asked me last night, "so, do you believe in santa clause, now?

I'm Sorry Auldsoul... sincerely sorry!
Your story is a prime example of the why so many people hate this cult! The only thing that I know does work is the example that my wife used effectively on ME....
Let your life be a shining example of what true love and Love for God can be, apart from the "Truth"
Angry apostacy only supports JW viewpoint on those "outside"... seeing that their perspective on others was wrong was what finally did it for me.
1 peter 3:1
"Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives." -

Why does this hurt so much?
by lola28 inokay, here it is a few months ago i sent in a letter to da myself, the elders refused to da me ( there is a first time for everything, i guess) and well i just kinda let it go.
over the last month i've come to realize that life is too short to spend it doing something that does not make you happy.
i think that a very small part of me still held on to the idea that it might be the truth, but after giving it a lot of thought i've come to realize that i have not believed in this for a long time.

Help me build a strategy to help get a Watchtower slave free...
by AK - Jeff ina very nice fellow at work - who happens to be direct line supervisor to me - is a jw.
unknown to me, since we have few personal conversations, although i sensed he was 'religious'.
in speaking with another christian there one day about my 'cult experience', she mentioned that she thought this person was a witness, and it seems now that is the case.. i think, from what others have told me, that he might be relatively new to the jdubs, but am not sure of this.

Abuse of elder position and platform
by KAYTEE inthe craziest statement (not lies not incorrect application of scripture) just total abuse of elder position and misuse of platform.
an elder when on the platform(or as some might say the stage after all the majority are actors made a statement to the congregation because his wife was a bit sickly asked the bro/sisters to arrange a rota to make his dinners.my thinking was if he can't feed himself how can he feed the flock.visiting brothers could not beleive what they heard they thought he was joking.. i can asure you this elder wasn't noted for his humour.. kt.

Why don't you call some member from another "Church"... there are lots of benevolent people in Christendom... Might be a testimony for those that truly have the love of their brother to bring by a meal for this couple.
Romans 12:20
On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." -

Hi Jeff, Your concern is warranted and admirable... If your personal situation allows, could you fake any past involvement with the religion and ask for a bible study where you could "discretely" pose their unanswerable questions? Or, Could you get someone else to do this for you? Maybe if you "ran into" him away from work you could tactfully mention something that would entice him to initiate the conversation. Once you have a sympathetic ear and a couple of seeds of doubt planted, I'm sure the members of this board would jump at the chance to offer input on a doctine-by-doctrine defense of your position... You'd probably get inundated with reference materials.
